Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• Experience with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist the individual with daily living skills (cooking, housekeeping, etc.).
• Support community participation and activities.
• Provide verbal prompting and encouragement to complete tasks.
• Travel to different locations as needed and arrive on time.

He also enjoys cooking, bowling and thrift shopping.The ideal candidate is creative and engaging, active and patient, and willing to travel to different locations. The ideal candidate must also be willing to provide verbal prompting and encouragement to do the task at hand (carry in your groceries, put on your deodorant and clean clothes). The ideal candidate should have experience with working with people that may have occasional difficulties regulating their anxiety. If the recipient gets upset, the ideal candidate would be able to remain calm, ask if the person is okay and if they need to be done for the day. Sometimes the recipient needs to be left alone when he is upset.This is a part-time position, but additional hours are available with other people receiving services at the agency.Hours and days of work: He would like to have someone Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 10-4pmStarting pay: Starting pay is $19.25/hour and increases with years of relevant experience.Location: Syracuse, NYMust have a valid driver's licenseMust be at least 18 years oldEffective communication and organizational skills required.Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.Reliable transportation to arrive to job site at scheduled time.Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred.Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by Indera's technology policy.
