Job summary

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson, Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) seeks a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with ID/DD in group homes across New Jersey. You will help with daily living activities, personal care, and documentation to ensure residents’ safety and well-being.

The role includes administering medications as needed, driving residents to programs, and coordinating with staff to provide engaging, community-based activities.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus
• Valid drivers license
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred
• Ability to meet physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and emergency procedures

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to residents in group homes and support personal health, safety and welfare.
• Assist with bathing, toileting, and daily living activities; supervise cooking, cleaning, and life skills.
• Administer or assist with medication administration as directed.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and residents.
• Transport residents to day programs or community activities using agency vehicles.
• Maintain daily documentation of services provided.
• Support residents in community activities and outings.
