ARISE CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICE INC. is seeking a Direct Support Professional in Syracuse, NY to assist a 19-year-old male with communication skills using an iPad, gestures, and some sign language. The role requires patience, creativity, and reliability, with potential to support in the community and home settings.

Hours are Monday–Friday and weekends, with after-2pm flexibility. The starting pay is $19.25 for Community Hab and increases with years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work independently in the person’s home and/or community.
• New York State Driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance is required; acceptable driving record required.
• Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community.
• Flexible after 2pm; Hours Monday–Friday and weekends.
• Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the 19-year-old male with communication skills via iPad, gestures, and some sign language.
• Provide personal care such as using the restroom, dressing, brushing teeth, and bathing.
• Support activities in the home and community and maintain a safe, engaging environment.

1:1 Part-Time Support Staff Needed – Syracuse, NY (MVS-JLC)A 19-year-old male in the Syracuse area is looking for a Direct Support Professional to assist him with his communication skills via iPad, gestures and some sign language.his parents. He enjoys watching his neighborhood and late-night car rides to view the lights. He enjoys playing games on his iPad, watching movies, walks in his community and swimming.The ideal candidate should be creative, engaging, active and patient. The ideal candidate should be willing to help facilitate communication via iPad, sign language and gestures.
