Job summary

Dungarvin Inc. in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide direct support, hands-on instruction, and positive direction to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, ensuring health, safety, and achievement of service objectives.

You will enrich residents’ lives, assist with daily living activities, prepare meals, and support independence in a safe, collaborative environment. Paid training and orientation are provided.

Qualifications

• Be 18+ years or older.
• 1 year of caregiving experience (preferred).
• Good communication is key for documenting care and following support plans.

Responsibilities

• Enrich and support the lives of residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Provide companionship and personalized care while encouraging independence and self-care.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Prepare meals and snacks.
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.
• Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed.
• Other duties as assigned
