Job summary

Beacon Specialized Living Services is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges. You will play a vital role in helping residents live independently and achieve personal goals through compassionate support and adherence to person-centered plans.

No prior experience is required; we provide on-the-job training, CPR and de-escalation courses, and opportunities for advancement through the

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals who have mental illness and co‑occurring disorders.
• 1–2 years of healthcare or social services experience (preferred).
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to physical aggression and infectious disease.

Responsibilities

• Provide Support & Care: Encourage and guide individuals to meet goals following person-centered plans.
• Foster a Safe Environment: Create a trusted, respectful space while upholding rights.
• Meal Prep & Housekeeping: Prepare meals per dietary specs and assist with laundry/cleaning.
• Transportation & Advocacy: Transport to appointments and advocate on behalf of residents.
• Medication Administration: Administer medications as prescribed and verify dosages.
• 24/7 Availability: Be reachable in homes requiring round-the-clock care.
• Supervise Daily Activities: Support personal care, life skills, and social activities.
