Job summary

Hope Haven Inc. in Iowa seeks Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to assist clients with intellectual disabilities or chronic mental health conditions.

You will support clients based on individualized goals, promoting physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. Responsibilities include implementing service plans, documenting progress, teaching self-management, coordinating appointments, and ensuring safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/HSED required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in decisions.
• Required to complete/pass medication administration course.
• Valid Class C driver's license required.
• Background checks as per service standards.
• Reliable transportation and proof of state liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and training per the service plan and safety needs.
• Teach self-control and self-management per departmental training.
• Complete documentation (logs, charts) within 24 hours with supervisor approval.
• Support individuals in daily activities aligned to their goals.
• Arrange appointments and transportation with proper documentation.
• Promote safety and follow all procedures.
