Job summary

Colonial Behavioral Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional II (DSP II) to join our Residential Services team in Virginia. You will support individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them build life skills and participate in their communities toward greater independence.

Two full-time shifts are available with evening, overnight, and weekend differentials. The role requires confidentiality, strong communication, and a valid driver’s license; high school diploma required,

Qualifications

• Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
• Perform the physical requirements including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for extended periods.
• Communicate effectively and complete written documentation accurately and timely.
• At least one year of work experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and updates ISPs using a person-centered approach focused on independent living and community inclusion.
• Assesses and evaluates individuals’ strengths, needs, abilities, and goals to support independence and community participation.
• Provides direct support to individuals in achieving personal goals and developing daily living skills.
• Promotes independence by encouraging choices and participation in community activities.
• Maintains accurate, timely documentation including progress notes.
• Communicates effectively with individuals, families, coworkers, and the support team.
• Follows agency policies, procedures, and regulations while providing safe, respectful, person-centered services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

We are currently seeking a Direct Support Professional II (DSP II) to join our Residential Services team.

As a DSP II, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities by providing support, encouragement, and guidance as they work toward greater independence. You’ll help individuals build life skills, participate in their communities, pursue their goals, and experience the everyday successes that make life rewarding.

Colonial Behavioral Health proudly serves individuals and families throughout James City County, the City of Poquoson, the City of Williamsburg, and York County.

Job Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and updates Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) using a person-centered approach focused on independent living, community inclusion, and participation.
• Assesses and evaluates individuals’strengths, needs, abilities, and goalsto support increased independence and meaningful participation in the community.
• Provides direct support and assistance to individuals in achieving their personal goals and developing daily living skills.
• Promotes independence by encouraging individuals to make choices, develop skills, and participate in community activities.
• Maintains accurate, timely, and completeservice-related documentation, including progress notes.
• Communicates effectively with individuals, families, coworkers, and other members of the individual's support team.
• Follows agency policies, procedures, and applicable regulations while providing safe, respectful, and person-centered services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

We are currently recruiting for two Full-Time positions to fill our vacancies.

Available Shifts:

• Shift 1: Monday & Tuesday 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Wednesday- 2:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., Thursday- 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Friday- 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
• Shift 2: Monday 2:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., Tuesday 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., Wednesday & Thursday 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., & Friday- 2:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.

Shift differentials are available for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.
