Job summary

Colonial Behavioral Health in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a Direct Service Professional II to support individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them build life skills, pursue goals, and participate in their communities.

This day shift, Monday–Friday 8:00am–4:00pm, requires documenting progress, coordinating with the support team, and ensuring safe, person-centered services while upholding agency policies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is required.
• Ability to document accurately and timely progress notes.
• Must be able to meet physical requirements of the role.

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and updates ISPs with a person-centered approach for independence.
• Assesses strengths, needs, and goals to support community participation.
• Provides direct support to help individuals achieve personal goals and daily living skills.
• Promotes independence by encouraging choices and community involvement.
• Maintains accurate progress notes and documentation.
• Communicates effectively with individuals, families, coworkers, and the support team.
• Follows agency policies, procedures, and regulations while delivering safe, respectful services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

We are currently seeking a Direct Support Professional II (DSP II) to join our Day Services team.

As a DSP II, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities by providing support, encouragement, and guidance as they work toward greater independence. You’ll help individuals build life skills, participate in their communities, pursue their goals, and experience the everyday successes that make life rewarding. You’ll also help create individualized goals, activities, and opportunities that promote personal growth, meaningful engagement, and an improved quality of life.

Job Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and updates Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) using a person-centered approach focused on independent living, community inclusion, and participation.
• Assesses and evaluates individuals’strengths, needs, abilities, and goalsto support increased independence and meaningful participation in the community.
• Provides direct support and assistance to individuals in achieving their personal goals and developing daily living skills.
• Promotes independence by encouraging individuals to make choices, develop skills, and participate in community activities.
• Maintains accurate, timely, and completeservice-related documentation, including progress notes.
• Communicates effectively with individuals, families, coworkers, and other members of the individual's support team.
• Follows agency policies, procedures, and applicable regulations while providing safe, respectful, and person-centered services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:00pm

Skills and Qualifications

• Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for extended periods of time.
• Ability to communicate effectively and complete written documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• At least one year of work experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

DMV record must be submitted with application.
