Job summary

Resources for Human Development (RHD) is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Philadelphia, PA to support individuals with intellectual, developmental, and behavioral health challenges. This role focuses on promoting independence, skill-building, and community involvement, with weekend shifts and opportunities for growth.

The DSP will provide direct care, assist with daily living activities, manage health supports, and document progress.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Six months to one year of related experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to meet agency driving requirements.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, email, electronic documentation systems, and timekeeping software.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals while promoting independence, personal growth, and community involvement.
• Assist with personal care, hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, housekeeping, and daily living activities.
• Support individuals in maximizing independence and quality of life.
• Encourage self-advocacy, positive behaviors, and personal choice.
• Provide supervision, guidance, and skill-building support.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
• Transport individuals to appointments, activities, and community events.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation, including daily service notes, goal/outcome tracking, and health logs.
