Salary

$20.00 per hour; differential pay varies for eligible shifts ($3.00/hour for evenings, $4.00/hour for nights and weekends, and double time for BHSSC designated holidays).

Job Type

Full‑time. DSP positions may involve working evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the individuals being supported.

Job Description

DSPs work with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing the support they need in daily life. Key duties include:

• Provide direct care and support to individuals.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Administer medication as directed by healthcare professionals.
• Assist with meal planning, preparation, and feeding; support individuals in participating in social and recreational activities, including accompanying individuals in the community and assisting with transportation needs.
• Assist to maintain a clean and safe living environment for individuals.

Skills & Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Physical & Clean Drug Screen.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Experience in senior care, assisted living, or special education instruction.
• Ability to work with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities, challenging behaviors.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when necessary.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations, demonstrate patience, empathy, and understanding.
