Job summary

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) in New Jersey is hiring Direct Support Professionals for a 30-hour-per-week overnight temporary role across five counties. The position offers competitive wages, benefits, and paid training.

The DSP supports residents in group homes with personal care, daily living skills, and medications, while maintaining documentation and ensuring safety. A HS diploma and a valid driver’s license are required; CPR/First Aid readiness is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• CPR/First Aid readiness and evacuation procedures
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus

Responsibilities

• Meet the personal health, safety and welfare needs of residents in group homes
• Assist with bathing/toileting, cleaning, cooking and life skills
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration
• Communicate effectively with staff and residents
• Transport residents to/from day programs and community activities
• Maintain daily documentation of services provided
• Support participation in community activities
