Job summary

Shepherd Health and Living is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. You will work one-on-one with individuals in their homes, following care plans with empathy and attention to detail, building trusting relationships. Excellent communication is essential.

Prior home health or hospice experience is a plus but not required; we provide training. This is a full-time, in-person role with shifts available now and 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-Hour DSP Certificate or willingness to obtain; we will help you.
• Driver's license/ID required.
• BCI and FBI background check; cost reimbursed.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities such as moving in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or automobiles
• Care for patients by changing bed linens, doing laundry, cleaning the home, or assisting with personal care
• Maintain records of patient care, condition, progress, or problems to report and discuss observations with the supervisor
• Build relationships with patients by conversing or reading aloud to help keep them mentally healthy and alert
• Give medications and immunizations
• Engage patients in exercises or other activities
