Job summary

Intandem in New York is seeking a Direct Support Professional to enhance quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities by assisting, instructing, and supporting residents to be as independent as possible.

You will promote health, safety and well-being, advocate for residents to express wants and needs, and help with meals planning, light housekeeping and medication administration as needed. Regular trainings help you build the skills to support each person effectively.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid New York State driver's license that meets the Agency’s driving policy.
• Medication certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist, instruct and support individuals to be as independent as possible.
• Promote health, safety and well-being of residents.
• Advocate for residents to communicate wants/needs and integrate into the community.
• Light housekeeping, help plan nutritious meals and administer medications as needed.
• Participate in trainings to enhance skills and knowledge.
