Job summary

Guided Steps NJ is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in New Jersey to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities in one-on-one settings in homes or the community. A valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and up-to-date vehicle documents are required for community outings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and less than 5 points.
• Must have and maintain a reliable vehicle, valid auto registration and insurance.
• Ability to pass State, Federal, and drug tests.
• Completion of required DSP training.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a caregiving role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor.
• CPR and first aid certification required.
• Ability to lift/push/pull 30 lbs.
• Experience with ABA-based interventions (for behavioral cases).
• Data collection and reporting skills (Boggs Center PBIS training or equivalent preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living tasks such as hygiene, meal preparation, and transportation.
• Provide direct support and assistance to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities.
• Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills.
• Implement individualized care plans and document progress.
• Assist with medication administration as needed.
• Provide transportation to appointments, community outings, and recreational activities.
• Foster a safe and supportive environment for individuals with disabilities.
