Indera is seeking a Community Habilitation Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support a young man in Central Square, NY. The role includes helping with independent living skills, personal care, and participation in his chosen activities both at home and in the community.

The position is per diem with weekend hours and a pay rate of $29.00 per hour. Applicants should have a valid driver’s license, be at least 18, and be capable of assisting with transfers and wheelchair needs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Accompany him at his family home and in the community; help practice independent living skills and participate in hobbies.
• Assist with daily personal care and changing as needed.
• Assist with transfers and wheelchair handling; comfortable transporting wheelchair in car.
• Be upbeat and motivating to help him work toward goals in home and community.

Indera is seeking a Community Habilitation Direct Support Professional (DSP) to work with a young man with Cerebral Palsy, developmental disorder and seizures. He does have some behaviors at times but generally is in a good mood. He enjoys being social, playing video games, listening to music, dancing, going for walks, helping around the house, using his memberships and spending time with his family. He is interested in developing more skills to increase his independence, learning to make healthy lifestyle choices and spending more time doing what interests him.

Responsibility for this role will be you will be accompanying him at his family home and in the community, helping him practice independent living skills and participating with him in his hobbies of choice. You would also need to be able to assist him with daily personal care and changing as needed. He requires assistance with transferring, as he is unsteady on his feet. Must be comfortable with individuals that use wheelchairs, as he does use one. Someone that would be able to physically assist and being willing to break down his wheelchair to transport in your car is highly preferred. He is seeking an upbeat, motivating individual that wants to help him work on his goals both in the home and in the community.

Prior experience is preferred and being comfortable around pets in the home.

Hours and Days of work:

The schedule would be Saturday and Sunday, family prefers after 12 both days.

Payrate:

$29.00 per hour.
