Job summary

The Arc Montgomery County is hiring a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role focuses on providing structure so individuals are engaged and included in their communities.

The DSP will work independently, ensuring safe, positive outcomes and be flexible to travel between Gaithersburg and Silver Spring. Schedule is Mon-Fri, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, with a pay rate of $20.56 to $21.60 per hour depending on education and experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include: high school diploma or GED (or 18+ with 1 year experience).
• Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to transport participants.
• Must be willing to drive a 12-passenger van and pass a DOT physical.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and withstand standing, bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing.
• Must pass a 6th grade math and reading test in English as required.

Responsibilities

• Support the people we support to engage and be included in their communities.
• Make decisions to ensure safe, productive, and positive outcomes.
• Work across locations from Gaithersburg to Silver Spring as needed.
