Job summary

AABR is seeking a Residential Direct Support Professional in Flushing, NY (11358). You will work part-time one-on-one with individuals who have developmental disabilities, helping with daily living tasks, independence and community inclusion.

Responsibilities include supporting nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication and socialization, while reporting progress to supervisors. Background checks and training are required; SCIP/CPR certifications are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Capable of independent work and sound judgment for client benefit.
• Flexible with the ability to handle stress and adapt to needs.
• Friendly, positive attitude and good interpersonal communication.
• Computer literate and comfortable using basic tech.
• Experience tracking and recording information preferred.
• Enjoy working with people with developmental disabilities to improve quality of life.
• Strong interpersonal skills and compassionate approach.
• Able to stand/move for prolonged periods and perform demanding tasks.
• Background checks and orientation training required.
• Current SCIP, CPR/First Aid certifications (AMAP for FT/PT).

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living needs including nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication and socialization.
• Help with bathing, grooming, eating and dressing to promote independence.
• Set goals with individuals, track progress and report findings.
• Encourage community involvement and inclusion based on interests.
• Develop meaningful client relationships to foster a sense of care and belonging.
• Follow health and safety protocols and maintain sanitary living spaces.
• Attend continuing education courses and training as required.
• Provide compassionate, patient support at all times.
