Job summary

Gateway Special Recreation Association in Illinois is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to assist people with disabilities in living fulfilling, independent lives. You will support daily activities, develop skills, and help participants engage in their communities.

This on-site role covers Elk Grove Village and Itaska locations. Candidates should have a high school diploma, strong communication, empathy, and the ability to pass background checks and screenings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in healthcare or human services preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to pass background checks and required screenings; post-offer drug test.
• Must have valid Illinois driver’s license and pass a pre-employment drug screen if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to people with disabilities.
• Assist with daily living activities including personal care and meal preparation.
• Support participants in achieving personal goals and independence.
• Encourage community involvement and social interaction.
• Maintain accurate documentation of services and progress.
• Ensure a safe, positive environment and collaborate with the team.
