Job summary

Advancing Opportunities, Inc is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide direct care in a residential setting for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will assist with daily living activities, meals, and community involvement.

No experience required; paid training provided. The organization emphasizes compassion, teamwork, and helping people live meaningful, independent lives with support and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 20 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, or a related field preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willing to obtain).
• Ability to pass: State and Federal criminal background checks, Drug screening, Pre-employment physical and PPD.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
• Assisting with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
• Preparing meals and assisting with feeding when necessary.
• Supporting daily living skills and independence.
• Helping individuals participate in community activities, appointments, and social events.
• Providing companionship, encouragement, and emotional support.
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment.
• Following individualized support plans and goals.
• Promoting dignity, respect, and person-centered care.

What You'll Do

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene
• Preparing meals and assisting with feeding when necessary
• Supporting daily living skills and independence
• Helping individuals participate in community activities, appointments, and social events
• Providing companionship, encouragement, and emotional support
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment
• Following individualized support plans and goals
• Promoting dignity, respect, and person-centered care
