Job summary

Dungarvin inc seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver in Madison, WI to support individuals with disabilities in a residential setting. This full-time/part-time role offers meaningful daily involvement, hands-on care, and opportunities to help clients achieve independence and enhanced quality of life.

You will assist with daily activities, personal cares, meal prep, and accompany residents on activities while upholding health and safety standards. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and be comfortable driving company vehicles.
• Strong communication skills and ability to document care and follow care plans.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Background clearance required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Support and mentorship with daily activities to those we serve to ensure health and safety, including meals, cleaning, laundry, and community activities.
• Hands-on mentoring to help individuals become more independent.
• Provide medication administration and ensure the person’s medical well-being.

What You Get To Do:

Working directly as aDirect Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver, you will be able to assist in a residential group home by assisting people with disabilities achieve a variety of outcomes, assist with personal cares and provide normalization/community integration. The DSP (caregiver/mentor) is responsible for providing:

• Support and mentorship with daily activities to those we support in a manner that ensures their health and safety. Some examples include helping with meals, cleaning, housekeeping, laundry duties and facilitating fun activities.
• Hands-on mentoring to those we serve to help them become more independent.
• Positive direction to the individuals to encourage them to achieve their personal goals.
• Provide medication administration and ensure person's medical well being.

No Experience? If you meet the basic job requirements, we will provide the necessary paid training and hands-on experience.

If interested in a Behavioral DSP role – to be successful in this role we are looking for candidates with prior experience with intense high behaviors, both verbal and physical! You will provide supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people who are faced with metal health, behavioral, and/or significant medical challenges! We are looking to hire staff who are patient, have good decision making and crisis management skills, and who will not be intimated by these behaviors. Prior IDD, mental health, psychiatric, and/or security experience is strongly preferred.

What Makes You A Great Fit:

• Good communication is key in this role. You’ll rely on your reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members.
• A successful background clearance is required as part of the onboarding/employment process
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Candidates must be comfortable driving company vehicles to transport persons servedas required
  • Some positions / locations may require own personal vehicle and auto-liability insurance based on the role
