Job summary

Life's New Beginning is seeking a Direct Support Professional for a one-person home in York, PA. The DSP will provide direct care, teach daily living skills, and promote health, safety, social, and relationship-building abilities.

The role requires experience with IDD, trauma-informed and mental health experience, and the ability to stay calm in unpredictable environments. Training includes CPR, First Aid, and Safe Crisis Management, with both full-time and part-time options available.

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with individuals with IDD that exhibit behaviors that may result in significant physical harm to self and others.
• Trauma informed care experience is required.
• Mental health experience is required.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Minimum age 18 and a valid PA driver's license with 2 years driving experience.
• Ability to participate in required trainings (CPR, First Aid, Med Administration, Safe Crisis Management).

Requirements For DSP One Person Home Position

• Must have experience working with individuals with IDD that exhibit behaviors that may result in significant physical harm to self and others
• Must have trauma informed care experience
• Must have mental health experience
• Must have a calm demeanor
• Must be able to respond in the moment due to an unpredictable environment
• Must be emotionally strong
• Health care experience is a plus
• Must be able to perform emergency physical safety interventions
• Must be 18 years or older
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid PA driver's license
• 2 years driving experience
• Various schedules available.
• Must be able to pass a background check
• Ability to read, speak, and write English
• Participate and successfully complete required training (includes but not limited to CPR, First Aid, Med Administration, Safe Crisis Management)

Life's New Beginning is looking for motivated individuals with a passion for care to take on the role of Direct Support Professional. The role of the DSP is to provide direct care while teaching daily living skills (cooking, self-care, hygiene, laundry, cleaning, shopping), health and safety skills, social skills, and relationship building skills. The DSP also provides support in the community and during social, recreational, and/or leisure activities. The DSP's role is also that of a mentor who will encourage and foster independence.

Residential Programs: We have one and two-person residential homes in which the DSPs provide individualized care and support, teach concepts of daily living and promote community involvement. This position is specifically for one of our one person homes. This role is the most integral position when providing services and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities. The position requires patience, care, understanding, and compassion. It is also important that the DSP is responsible, reliable, honest, and has the ability to make effective decisions as well as possess the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

LNB provides person-centered services to individuals with a primary diagnosis of an intellectual disability both in residential homes (owned and operated by LNB) and in the community (Companion and CPS Program).
