Job summary

Dungarvin in Vacaville, CA seeks an experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP) for our Day Program. You will coach individuals with developmental disabilities and lead workshops in arts, music, games, reading, and life enrichment to promote engagement and independence.

You'll document daily progress, support personal care, and implement behavioral interventions as needed. This role offers weekday hours, competitive pay, and benefits in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• 6 months+ experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
• High school Diploma or GED.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company van.
• Comfortable providing personal care and behavioral support.
• Compassion, patience, professionalism.
• Adaptable with a positive attitude.
• Ability to take initiative and pivot.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with basic computer skills and able to learn new systems.
• Good communication is key for documentation and collaboration.
• Ability to lift and transfer 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor individuals with I/DD.
• Lead workshops and activities (music, art, games, reading, AV, life enrichment).
• Teach daily living skills (cooking, budgeting, volunteering) to foster independence.
• Lead outings and group activities; keep individuals engaged.
• Provide personal care and behavioral support daily.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Deliver person-centered care tailored to each individual.
• Document daily outcomes in the electronic system.

Dungarvin is seeking experienced Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our Day Program. As a DSP you would coach and foster engagement by leading workshops designed to support individuals with developmental disabilities. DSP’s act as a life coach - they mentor and continuously engage individuals and lead groups through art, music, games, audio/visual, cooking, reading and other life enrichment activities. They also provide direct care support and behavioral interventions as needed and ensure timely and accurate documentation outlining daily progress.

Must be able to work the following shift

• Monday-Friday 32.5 hours per week, 8:30am-3:00pm or 9am-3:30pm

Job Description

What You’ll Do:

• Coach and mentor individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD)
• Engage individuals through workshop activities to enhance skills. Leading activities such as music, art, games, reading, audio/visual, and other life enrichment activities.
• Teach and assist individuals with daily life skills such as cooking, money management, and community volunteering opportunities to foster independence.
• Lead fun outings and workshops and continuously engage individuals in activities.
• Assist individuals with personal care and provide behavioral interventions daily.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Provide compassionate, person-centered care tailored to individual needs.
• Collaborate with your team to create a safe, supportive, and fun environment.
• Report on daily outcomes within the electronic documentation system.
