Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health in North Carolina is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist individuals with IDD in their homes and communities in Calabash and surrounding areas. You’ll provide daily living support, transport, and documentation, while building meaningful, one-on-one relationships with clients.

This role offers flexible afternoons/after-school hours, entry-level training, and the chance to grow with a dedicated team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Entry-level role with on-the-job training provided.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and in the community.
• Assist with everyday tasks (housekeeping, meals, personal care, etc.).
• Transport the client to appointments and run errands as needed.

Position details: Part-time afternoon/after school hours
Location: Calabash, NC and surrounding areas with local community travel

Your Role in Our Mission

• You will provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: entry-level, on-the-job training is provided
• Education: high school diploma or GED is required
• Knowledge: basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols
• Skills: interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are a must!
• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn
• Transportation: DSPs must have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance
