Job summary

Open Arms Care in Powell, TN is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live more independent, fulfilling lives. You will build meaningful relationships, support daily activities, and make a positive impact every day.

In this role you will provide hands-on care, assist with meals and mobility, transport to activities, document progress, and work with a supportive team to create a safe, welcoming home environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to lift and assist with mobility up to 50 lbs.
• CPR certification within 30 days and PCM certification within 60 days (training provided).
• Background check and drug screening required.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support with personal care, meals, mobility, and daily living activities.
• Teach and encourage independence and life skills.
• Coach, mentor, and advocate for the individuals we support.
• Create a safe, positive, and welcoming home environment.
• Transport individuals to appointments, community activities, and outings.
• Document progress and work closely with a supportive team.
