Job summary

Open Arms Care is seeking a Direct Support Professional in Knoxville, TN. You will help children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live more independent lives by providing daily living support, teaching life skills, and fostering a caring home environment.

Responsibilities include transporting individuals to activities, mentoring, and documenting progress while collaborating with a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience in direct care or caregiving is a plus.

What You'll Do

• Provide hands-on support with personal care, meals, mobility, and daily living activities.
• Teach and encourage independence and life skills.
• Coach, mentor, and advocate for the individuals we support.
• Create a safe, positive, and welcoming home environment.
• Transport individuals to appointments, community activities, and outings.
• Document progress and work closely with a supportive team.

What You'll Need

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Valid driver's license
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to lift and assist with mobility needs up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to complete CPR certification within 30 days and PCM certification within 60 days (training provided)
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
