Job summary

Ameriwell Care is hiring compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our growing team in New Jersey. This part-time DSP role offers a 30-hour week schedule, with shifts on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus opportunities for additional hours.

DSPs provide one-on-one support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings. You will assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and accompany clients on community outings.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
• Compassionate, patient, dependable, and professional.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
• Ability to successfully complete all required background checks and training.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate one-on-one support in the individual's home and community.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
• Encourage independence while ensuring the individual's health and safety.
• Accompany individuals on community outings, recreational activities, shopping, and appointments.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the individual and their family.
• Complete accurate daily documentation and electronic shift notes.
• Follow each individual's ISP, behavior support plans, and agency policies.
• Communicate professionally with supervisors, families, and support coordinators.
