Guided Steps NJ in New Jersey is actively hiring Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities in home and community settings. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required for community outings and daily activities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points.
• Must have and maintain a reliable vehicle, valid auto registration and insurance.
• Ability to pass State, Federal, and drug tests.
• Completion of required DSP training.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a similar caregiving role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor.
• CPR and first certification required.
• Ability to lift/push/pull 30 lbs.
• Experience with ABA-based interventions.
• Data collection and reporting skills (Boggs Center PBIS training or equivalent training preferred).

• Provide direct support and assistance to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities
• Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
• Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills

• Provide transportation to appointments, community outings, and recreational activities
• Foster a safe and supportive environment for individuals with disabilities

The DSP will assist individuals with intellectual disabilities, in a one-on-one setting, to reach their individualized goals. Services can take place in the individual’s home or in the community. This position requires all candidates to have a working vehicle, up to date vehicle documents and a valid driver’s license. Use of personal vehicle required for community outings.
