Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist individuals with IDD in a facility setting. You’ll provide daily care, including housekeeping, meals, personal care, and transportation, while helping clients develop social and life skills.

We offer paid training and flexible, part-time/as-needed schedules. The role emphasizes empowerment, community inclusion, and growth within a supportive IDEAL culture. Applicants of all abilities are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role with on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic knowledge of housekeeping, nutrition and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and support within the EMPOWER Program facility.
• Assist with daily tasks including housekeeping, meal prep, cooking and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing; and transportation as needed.
• Deliver direct interventions to build socialization, behavior management and community living skills.
• Support adaptive skill learning, community inclusion and leisure-time activities.
• Maintain documentation, progress notes and incident/accident reports; document daily activities in the electronic health record.

Job description

At Easterseals PORT Health (ESPH), our mission is rooted in empowering individuals and strengthening communities. As a Direct Support Professional / DSP, you’ll play a critical role in carrying outthat mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

• Compensation: $18.00 hourly ($12.00 training rate)

Your Role in Our Mission

• You will provide care and support within the EMPOWER Program facility.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• Provides direct interventions to build socialization, behavior management and community living skills.
• Provides direct interventions to promote adaptive skill learning, community inclusion and development of leisure time interests/activities.
• Maintains documentation, progress notes, and other data as needed including, but not limited to incident and accident reports.
• You may transport the client to activities, appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Dailydocumentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: entry-level, on-the-job training is provided
• Education: high school diploma or GED is required
• Knowledge: basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols
• Skills: interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are a must!
• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn
• Transportation: DSPs must have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance
