Job summary

Royal Community Support seeks a nurturing, physically capable caregiver to support an individual with social and communication challenges. The role values a calm, compassionate presence and steady daily support in nutrition, hydration, and safety.

You’ll engage in activities, reinforce routines, and provide companionship with patience and humor. Experience with developmental disabilities or behavioral support is welcomed, with de-escalation training a plus.

A unique and rewarding opportunity is available for a patient, kind, and physically strong individualto support an individual with significant social and communication challenges. The ideal candidate will be a “gentle giant”—someone calm, grounded, and compassionate who can provide steady support throughout the day, both emotionally and physically.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide consistent patience when communication is repetitive or socially limited
• Engage in games and activities, even when attention drifts or tasks remain unfinished
• Assist with daily nutrition: heat prepared meals, make protein shakes, offer snacks
• Prompt and encourage hydration throughout the day
• Model respectful interaction and provide companionship without expectation of typical social engagement
• Maintain safety and structure while allowing for fun and flexibility

Ideal Qualities:

• Physically strong and able-bodied; preferably a larger person who can be a comforting physical presence
• Extremely patient and emotionally mature
• Capable of remaining calm and centered in unpredictable situations
• Understanding of or open to learning about neurodiversity, communication differences, and nontraditional expressions of behavior
• Not easily offended or frustrated; a good sense of humor is a plus

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral support needs is highly preferred
• Training in de-escalation or crisis intervention is a plus
• Background in caregiving, special education, mental health, or support roles is helpful but not required

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 12 pm-5 pm

Hourly Rate: $24
