Job summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Day Services in Pierre, SD provides compassionate care under the Day Services Supervisor and collaborates with leadership and colleagues to uphold quality standards. The DSP Day Services assists individuals in daily living activities, maintains safety and cleanliness, and participates in transportation and community activities as needed.

Requires a high school diploma or GED, 18+, valid driver’s license, and willingness to complete required certifications

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must successfully complete all certification and training requirements within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
• Experience in human services, customer service, or a related field preferred.
• Prior experience in residential services and supports for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
• Clear background check in compliance with regulations and best practices.
• Demonstrated knowledge in the use of medical equipment needed to care for individuals served.
• Promotes an environment of teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily personal cares, hygiene, medical needs, diabetic and nutritional requirements, activities and field trips.
• Provide transportation as required and maintain adherence to safety policies.
• Report incidents involving aggression, medical situations, or treatments to the Day Services Supervisor.
• Complete daily charting, logs, documentation, and plans for individuals served.
• Maintain a clean, safe, homelike environment and respectful interactions with individuals and families.
