Job summary

YAI in Bayside, Queens is hiring a Direct Support Professional to provide compassionate, hands-on care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping with daily living activities, health and safety, and community participation.

The role offers flexible schedules (full-time or part-time), hourly pay of $16.50–$18.00, and benefits including medical and dental plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, 403(b) with employer match, life insurance, and disability coverage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; relevant I/DD experience is a plus.
• DSP1 requires less experience; DSP2 may require 1–2 years in I/DD field.
• Valid NY Driver’s License may be required depending on position.
• Tuberculosis test is mandatory for most positions.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care services, including counseling, ADLs, personal care, and other needs.
• Ensure health, safety, and wellness of the people we support.
• Support intimate care functions and build positive relationships.
• Participate in treatment plan development and crisis intervention.
• Complete mandatory trainings and maintain required documentation.
• Facilitate community integration and socialization; train team as needed.
