Job summary

Helpful Hearts Health Services Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals in our Community Development Services (CDS) program in Baltimore, MD. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of DSP experience, and the ability to travel with individuals in the community.

Schedule: Mon–Sat, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, Full-Time. Responsibilities include implementing the PCP, promoting independence, documenting services, and ensuring health and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of DSP experience preferred.
• Must meet background check requirements and Maryland DDA requirements.
• Must have CPR/First Aid, CMT, MandT, and Core DDA trainings.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required.

• Assist with developing communication, social, independent living, and daily living skills.

Helpful Hearts Health Services (HHHS) is a licensed provider of services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Maryland. We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated DSP to support individuals participating in our Community Development Services (CDS) program.

Job Responsibilities

• Support individuals in participating in meaningful community activities and social experiences.
• Assist individuals in developing communication, social, independent living, and daily living skills.
• Promote individual choice, independence, dignity, and community inclusion.
• Implement the participants Person-Centered Plan (PCP) and applicable support strategies.
• Assist with community outings, recreational activities, volunteering, and skill-building opportunities.
• Provide supervision and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals receiving services.
• Maintain accurate daily documentation, progress notes, attendance records, and other required service records.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and team members as appropriate.
• Follow HHHS policies, confidentiality requirements, and applicable Maryland DDA regulations.
• Report incidents, concerns, and changes in an individual's condition promptly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is an advantage.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Patience, compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to person-centered care.
• Ability to follow support plans, document services accurately, and work collaboratively.
• Must meet applicable background check, training, and Maryland DDA requirements.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel with individuals in the community, as required by the position.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 18 years of age
• At least two years of experience working as a DSP
• Ability to pass criminal background checks and reference verification
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
• CPR/First Aid, CMT, MandT, and Core DDA Trainings
• Strong communication skills and a caring, professional demeanor
