Job summary

Extended Families of Nebraska (EFN) is seeking Direct Support Professionals to join our Omaha team. The role supports adults (and summer youth) with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a compassionate, community-based setting.

Shifts run Monday–Friday roughly 8:00–8:30 AM to 4:00–4:30 PM. Staff foster independence, dignity, and meaningful activity through outings and daily involvement in preferred activities within a safe environment.

Qualifications

• CPR and First Aid certification required or as part of training.
• Medication Aide certification (preferred) but training available.
• Mandt certification (Preferred) but will train.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required.

Responsibilities

• Provide services with respect for dignity and rights of individuals.
• Follow medical needs, doctor’s orders, and non-complex procedures in cooperation with EFN staff.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and suitable environment for the person supported.
• Assist with teaching balanced meals, including modified diets.
• Provide safe and reliable transportation meeting individual needs.
• Maintain documentation to ensure needs are met and services billed.
• Collaborate to develop, improve, or maintain inclusion for individuals.
• Implement all elements of the Individual Support Plan (ISP).
• Ensure ISP services are provided according to individuals’ needs.
• Provide feedback to supervision on progress and ISP implementation barriers.
• Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors.
