Job summary

Resources for Human Development in Lansdale, PA is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help individuals with disabilities live independently. You will provide direct care, support daily living activities, and promote personal choice in daily life.

You will document services, communicate with teams and families, respond to behavioral or medical needs, and assist clients to participate in social and community activities, building life skills in a respectful, supportive setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; related human services education preferred.
• Previous direct support, caregiving, or human services experience preferred.
• Compassionate, patient and reliable with a strong desire to help others.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Promote independence, self-advocacy, and personal choice in all aspects of daily life.
• Support individuals in developing life skills and participating in social, recreational, and community activities.
• Build respectful, positive relationships with individuals served.
• Accurately document services provided and track individual progress.
• Communicate effectively with team members, families, and external providers to ensure coordinated care.
• Respond appropriately to behavioral or medical needs, including crisis situations when necessary.
