Beta Care Services CT is seeking a dependable Direct Support Professional to provide individualized in-home and community-based support to an adult woman residing in Newington.

The DSP will work Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM–8:00 PM (25 hours/week), traveling between Bristol and Newington to assist with daily living tasks, appointments, meals, budgeting, and community activities while promoting independence and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Reliable, registered and insured vehicle.
• Ability to pass all required background checks.
• Ability to complete required DDS and agency training.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Monday–Friday 3:00 PM–8:00 PM availability.
• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport client from day program to home and activities.
• Escort to medical appointments and scheduled activities.
• Assist with meals and budgeting/money-management tasks.
• Support participation in recreational activities and independence.
• Follow an Individual Plan and safety guidelines.

Position Summary

Beta Care Services CT is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and responsible Direct Support Professional to provide individualized in-home and community-based support to an adult woman residing in Newington.

The DSP will pick up the individual from her day program at 3:00 PM and provide support until 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate must be punctual, engaging, patient, and committed to promoting the individual’s independence, safety, and participation in the community.

Primary Responsibilities

• Pick up the individual from her day program in Bristol at 3:00 PM and transport her safely to her home in Newington or scheduled community activities.
• Transport and accompany her to medical appointments and other scheduled appointments.
• Assist with planning, preparing, and cooking meals.
• Provide support with budgeting, purchases, and money-management skills.
• Assist with recreational and community-based activities.
• Encourage independence, informed choice, self-advocacy, and the development of daily living skills.
• Follow the individual’s Individual Plan, behavioral guidelines, and established support strategies.
• Maintain appropriate supervision and ensure the individual’s health and safety.
• Complete required service documentation accurately and on time.
• Communicate professionally with the individual, guardian, day program, agency management, and other members of the support team.
• Immediately report any health, safety, behavioral, or incident-related concerns in accordance with agency and DDS requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Reliable, registered, and insured vehicle.
• Safe driving record and willingness to transport the individual.
• Ability to pass all required background checks.
• Ability to complete required DDS and agency training.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable and able to consistently work Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
• Prior experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is preferred.

The ideal candidate will be caring, patient, dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable supporting an individual with meal preparation, money management, appointments, transportation, and meaningful recreational activities in the community.
