Job summary

AWARE Inc. in Whitehall, Montana is seeking Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with brain injuries in achieving independence. The role offers $17.00–$18.00 per hour DOE/DEQ and a mission-driven team focused on dignity and growth.

Responsibilities include supervising medication administration, helping with daily living activities, recording vitals, and supporting residents in community and facility activities. Join a team dedicated to hopeful, respectful care.

Qualifications

• Experience working with people (volunteer acceptable).
• Ability to communicate in English (reading, writing, speaking and comprehension) for resident care plans.
• Ability to work under pressure and relate professionally to residents, family, community, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and assist residents with medications in and out of the facility.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, nourishment.
• Record vitals such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiration; record weights as requested by the nurse.
• Follow resident-centered service plans and behavior management programs.
• Assist residents using memory support systems.
• Drive and accompany residents to events and medical appointments.
• Assist with group activities and facility needs as needed.
• Provide general kitchen duties including meal prep and cleanup.
• Answer phones, run errands, and direct visitors.
• Maintain professional conduct and create a home-like atmosphere.
• Help keep the facility clean (dusting, mopping, vacuums, bathrooms/shower).

AWARE is looking for the right person to join the team as a direct support professional.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and assist residents with self-administration of medications in and out of the facility;
• Assist and coach residents with activities of daily living: Bathing, dressing, grooming, nourishment;
• Record blood pressures, temperatures, pulse and respiration rates, as well as weights as requested by the nurse;
• Follow all programs in accordance with the resident’s Person Centered Service Plan;
• Follow behavior management programs per person Centered Service Plan;
• Assist residents in utilizing their Memory Support Systems;
• Drive and assist residents to community functions and medical appointments;
• Assist residents in and out of the facility during group activities;
• Assist the Habilitation Technician and/or Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and/or Speech-Language Pathologist;
• General kitchen functions including meal preparation and clean up;
• Assist with facility needs, as needed;
• Answer telephone, run errands, and direct visitors;
• Conduct self in a professional manner at all times;
• Make AWARE a home-like atmosphere and have fun;
• Assist with overall cleanliness of building, such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning bathrooms and shower rooms.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or HSE is required;
• An acceptable criminal and protective services background check;
• A valid Montana Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one, and an acceptable driving record;
• Must complete a pre-employment Drug screening test and submit to future random Drug and Alcohol tests according to Liberty Place, Inc. policy and procedure and FTA regulations where they apply;
• Experience working with people (experience may be volunteer);
• Must demonstrate the ability to communicate in English (reading, writing, speaking and comprehension in order to understand, plan and carry out resident care plans);
• Ability to work under pressure and relate in a professional, mature manner to residents, family, community, and staff.
