Job summary

Devereux California seeks a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with intellectual and developmental needs in residential or day programs. You will help participants engage in activities, manage daily living skills, and accompany them on community outings and appointments.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid CDL with a clean driving record, and the ability to pass background checks. Prior experience is preferred; shifts typically run 9 a.m.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid CDL and a good driving record are required.
• Must pass background checks & Livescan.
• Experience in the field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide services to persons with mild to moderate developmental diagnosis and possible challenging behaviors.
• Assist, instruct, and support individuals in the Adult Day Program with ADP activities.
• Ensure participants are active, engaged, and productive.
• Actively supervise, coach, and mentor participants.
• Be willing to work with individuals who may exhibit aggressive behaviors (training provided).
• Assist with hygiene care and transportation to activities in the community.
• Accompany participants on community outings, medical appointments and other activities.
• Assist with meals.
