Job summary

Devereux in Goleta, CA is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with intellectual and developmental needs in residential or day program settings. You will help with daily living activities, accompany clients on outings, provide hygiene care, and support treatment planning.

Responsibilities include cooking, cleaning, budgeting, appointments, and managing behaviors with ongoing training. Weekend shifts are required, with part-time and full-time options available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid CDL and a good driving record required.
• Must pass thorough background checks & Livescan.
• Experience in the field preferred.

• Assist, instruct, and support individuals with daily living activities (cooking, cleaning, budgeting, bill pay, grocery shopping).
• Accompany individuals to community outings, medical appointments, and other activities as directed.

• Work with individuals who may exhibit challenging or aggressive behaviors (paid training upon hire).
• One weekend shift per week is required.

Programs Served

• Casa Feliz (ages 18+) – seven-bed adult residential facility focused on improving quality of life and life skills.
• Weisman Center RCFE (ages 59+) – 15‑bed residential care facility for older adults providing support and choice in daily activities.

Compensation

$19 per hour; $20 per hour for overnight positions. Both part‑time (minimum three eight‑hour shifts per week) and full‑time positions available.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate

Empathetic, a team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Energetic, creative, understands behavior management theories and positive reinforcement, and represents themselves as a positive role model. Must complete 30 hours of new hire orientation training and have a strong passion for working with adults with special needs.
