Qualifications

Summary

The Direct Support Professional 1 supports Level 1 residential programs by assisting individuals with daily activities, skills training, and managing within a home and community setting. Some individuals may require physical assistance or accommodations.

Schedule

Saturday 5:00pm-11:00pm, Sunday 3:00pm-11:00pm, 11:00pm-9:00am ASON (24 hours per week)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Support individuals with skills training in daily living activities.
2. Encourage decision-making to foster independence.
3. Ensure services comply with DDS, DMH, MassHealth, HUD, DPH, CARF, and all relevant standards and policies.
4. Assist with medical, clinical, and financial needs.
5. Transport individuals to medical, recreational, and other activities.
6. Maintain documentation as per standards and policies.
7. Help individuals access community resources and recreational activities.
8. Administer medications following MAP regulations.
9. Keep certifications up to date (FA/CPR, PABC, MAP).
10. Develop positive relationships with guardians, families, and stakeholders.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or DSP Certification preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental or psychiatric disabilities preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license with at least one year of driving experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web applications.

Physical Demands

• Ability to climb stairs frequently.
• Must lift at least 30 pounds.
• Ability to drive and meet driving record requirements.
• Normal eyesight and hearing (with or without correction).
