Job Description: Direct Support Professional (DSP) at BAYADA

BAYADA is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to work one-on-one in home and community settings, providing companionship and mentorship to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The role involves supporting individuals to reach their full potential.

We are particularly looking for candidates proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) or willing to learn ASL through provider-guided and self-paced training.

Key Support Needs:

• Supporting an individual who is both deaf and blind.
• Assisting an individual with declining hearing to become more proficient in ASL.

Job Locations and Schedule:

• Mooresville
• Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (community support)
• Tuesday-Thursday, 9 am - 3 pm (flexible hours)
• Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 12-hour shifts
• Potential for additional hours as you build rapport and skills

Required Skills (Training Available):

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience or training in intervening for deaf/blind individuals
• Ability to present information in accessible ways for deaf/blind individuals
• Supporting environmental awareness and social connection
• Assisting with physical needs such as tactile sign language, sighted guide, toileting, dressing, and feeding, based on individual needs
