Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist individuals with IDD in Wilson, NC, and surrounding areas. This part-time role includes day and after-school shifts, supporting daily living tasks, and helping clients reach personal goals in home and community settings.

You will receive paid training, work with a dedicated team, and have opportunities for growth, with flexible scheduling and meaningful community impact.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position with on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic housekeeping, nutrition, and safety knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home and community setting.
• Assist with daily tasks including housekeeping, meal prep, cooking, and cleaning; personal care as needed.
• Transport client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize the client's schedule.
• Document and report daily in the electronic health record system.

At Easterseals PORT Health (ESPH), our mission is rooted in empowering individuals and strengthening communities. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Position details: Part-time day and after-school/afternoon hours, Mon-Fri; weekend shifts

Location: Wilson, NC, and surrounding areas with regular local community travel

Compensation: $15.00/hour

• You will provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: entry-level, on-the-job training is provided
• Education: high school diploma or GED is required
• Knowledge: basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols
• Skills: interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are a must!
• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn
• Transportation: DSPs must have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance
