Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health in Buxton, NC seeks a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with IDD in home and community settings. This part-time afternoon role focuses on daily living tasks, personal care, and transportation support.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with EHR documentation while working with a compassionate team. Ideal candidates bring reliability, strong interpersonal skills, and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Entry-level, on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and in the community.
• Assist with housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing; and toiletry needs.
• Transport the client to appointments and run errands as needed.
• Help plan and organize the client’s daily schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health record system.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Position details: Part-time afternoon shifts

Location: Buxton, NC and surrounding areas with local community travel

• You will provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

What We’re Looking For

• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn
• Transportation: DSPs must have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance
