The Trudeau Center is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide hands-on support in our Rhode Island group homes. You will help residents with daily routines, personal care, and social activities, promoting dignity, independence, and joy.

A typical day includes assisting with personal care, encouraging independence, supporting health needs, and maintaining detailed documentation. A high school diploma and driver’s license are required, with benefits and growth opportunities offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; related experience a plus.
• Strong communication, patience, and teamwork are essential.
• Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
• Willingness to learn Safety-Care and behavior support techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support in group homes to individuals with IDD.
• Assist with daily routines, personal care, social activities and transportation.
• Maintain health needs and coordinate appointments.
• Build trusting relationships and document care clearly and accurately.

What You’ll Do

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll provide hands‑on support in one of our group homes. You’ll help individuals with daily routines, personal care, social activities, and more, helping them live with dignity, independence, and joy.

A Typical Day Might Include:

• Assisting with personal care (bathing, dressing, meals, as needed)
• Encouraging independence and community involvement
• Supporting health needs and appointments
• Helping with household tasksBuilding strong, trusting relationships
• Keeping clear, accurate documentation
• Create a safe, positive, encouraging atmosphere

What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent (experience in similar settings a plus!)
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and personal vehicle
• Strong communication, patience, and a team‑player attitude
• Comfort with physical activity (lift up to 40 lbs., bending, walking, etc.)
• Willingness to learn Safety‑Care and behavior support techniques
