Job summary

Sunrise Community, Inc. in Tallahassee, FL is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide support, supervision and independence-promoting services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete pre-employment background and drug screenings.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License with endorsements and have 3+ years of driving experience.
• Must possess basic computer skills.
• High School Diploma or equivalent as required by work location.
• Minimum one year of experience in the human service field.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and reports suspected abuse or violations of an individual’s rights.
• Provides support, assistance and supervision to meet the individuals’ needs and goals according to their plans.
• Ensures training, behavior and support plans are implemented and documented per regulatory requirements.
• Ensures health, safety and well-being of individuals are protected at all times.
• Maintains a positive, reinforcing environment that promotes independence and choice.
• Follows positioning schedules and uses equipment per plan.
• Assists with diet, texture and equipment needs as required.
• Keeps homes, outdoor areas and vehicles well maintained and organized.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
