Job summary

Addus HomeCare is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to support seniors and people with disabilities living independently. This entry-level role offers flexible hours and a meaningful career with a growing industry leader.

You will follow care plans, assist with personal care, help with light housekeeping and meals, transport to appointments, and report changes in condition. A high school diploma or GED and reliable transportation are required.

Responsibilities

• Follow the member's care plan and report on completed tasks.
• Assist with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.).
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
• Transport member to appointments and errands as needed.
• Assist with self-administration of medications (no dosing).
• Observe and report changes in member's condition.

DSP Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.)
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and assist with meal preparation
• Transport member to appointments, daily errands, and other locations as necessary
• Assist member with the self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring)
• Observe and report any changes in member's condition

DSP Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, and one year of in-home care services experience
• Able to pass a criminal background check
• Reliable transportation, required for member transportation. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and follow written/verbal instructions
• Good communication skills
• Reliable, energetic, self-motivated and well-organized
• Comfortable using an electronic device
