Job summary

SPIN is seeking a Direct Support Professional in Philadelphia, PA to help individuals with disabilities live independently and participate in their communities. The DSP will assist with daily living activities, support goal attainment, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to update individual plans.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, CPR/First Aid and PA DPW Medication Administration certifications, a valid driver’s license, and attendance at a 3-week paid training

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with individuals with disabilities or in related field preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
• Must complete a 3-week paid training program 9am-5pm.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Certification in PA DPW Medication Administration.
• Knowledge of local resources and support services.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct assistance with daily living activities including personal care and meals.
• Support people in achieving personal goals through skill-building and community engagement.
• Maintain accurate documentation of progress and changes in needs or behavior.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create and update individualized support plans.
• Facilitate social interactions and community involvement to promote inclusion.

About the Role:

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by providing personalized support and assistance. This position focuses on fostering independence and promoting community integration for people we support, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and opportunities. The DSP will work closely with people to develop and implement individualized care plans that address their unique needs and goals. By building trusting relationships, the DSP will empower people to make choices and engage in meaningful activities. The tools you need
