Role Description

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a full-time, on-site role based in Norristown, PA. In this role, the DSP provides daily support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, assisting with personal care, life skills, and community participation. Responsibilities include implementing individual service plans, promoting independence, supporting social and recreational activities, and ensuring a safe, respectful environment. The DSP documents services and progress accurately, communicates observations to supervisors and team members, and participates in team meetings and required trainings. This role involves working collaboratively with individuals, families, and colleagues to uphold person-centered values and enhance each individual’s quality of life.

Qualifications

• Human Services knowledge and experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication abilities to build trust and rapport with individuals, families, and team members.
• Understanding of intellectual disabilities and ability to apply person-centered approaches in daily support.
• Training experience or willingness to complete required agency and regulatory trainings.
• High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in human services or related field is beneficial.
• Ability to assist with personal care, follow safety protocols, and manage challenging situations calmly and respectfully.
• Basic documentation and computer skills for recording services and maintaining accurate records.
• Reliable transportation to the Norristown, PA site and ability to work assigned full-time schedule, which may include varying shifts.
