Job summary

Ability Beyond is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help adults with diverse needs in residential and community settings. You will assist with daily living activities, personal care, and life-skills development while promoting independence and community involvement.

No prior experience is required as paid training is provided, and a sign-on bonus may be available. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for this role in the Greater Danbury area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Willingness to learn with no prior experience required. Paid training is provided
• Compassionate, dependable, and motivated to support others

Responsibilities

• Provide hands on support with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, hygiene, dressing, and mobility
• Assist with personal care, including bathing, toileting, and medication reminders as needed
• Support individuals in developing independent living skills such as budgeting, communication, and meal planning
• Provide transportation to medical appointments, errands, and community outings
• Encourage participation in social, recreational, and volunteer activities such as fitness, crafts, Special Olympics, and community events
• Implement behavioral support strategies and use de escalation techniques when needed
• Collaborate with nurses, behaviorists, nutritionists, and other clinical team members to provide well rounded care
• Assist with goal planning, progress tracking, and skill development
• Maintain accurate documentation of services, progress, and daily activities
