Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is hiring a Direct Support Professional III in Carlsbad, TX. The DSP III will work as part of a team to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities in daily living activities, implement treatment plans, and report on progress.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and basic healthcare skills, with potential for shift differentials and weekend work. Position is based at the San Angelo State Supported Living Center system.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or 6 months of work experience.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly.
• Experience with individuals who have intellectual/developmental disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct care and support services to individuals and implements habilitation and rehabilitation plans.
• Uses active treatment to train daily living skills and supports independence.
• Participates in development and review of person-centered treatment plans with the IDT.
• Observes health conditions, administers basic first aid and CPR as needed, and reports changes to staff.
