Job summary

Apace is seeking Direct Support Professionals to train and support individuals with disabilities in homes and community locations. Flexible scheduling includes days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

The role emphasizes person-centered training, data collection, and collaboration with families and teams. The position requires delivering tailored supports, maintaining records, and adhering to safety procedures while helping individuals achieve personal goals and community

Qualifications

• Knowledge of training individuals with developmental disabilities is helpful.
• Ability to work with individuals with special needs, including personal hygiene/care.
• Ability to contribute positively to the work team.
• Ability to meet the physical demand of the service location.
• Lifting may be required and, if available, must be used.
• Ability to accept directions and follow through with tasks.
• Ability to identify and report situations needing supervisor guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and support to individuals to achieve personal goals and community integration.
• Attend team meetings to ensure training aligns with individual needs and desires.
• Collaborate with family and team members to define desired outcomes and assess progress.
• Develop training programs and maintain accurate data and records for accountability.
• Monitor training plans and adjust as needed for growth and progress.
• Act as a positive role model and trainer for social skills, hygiene, and communication.
